Exciting Dog Content Coming Soon + A Special Book Launch Announcement
Hey there, dog lovers!
I’m thrilled to share what’s in store for upcoming blog posts. Get ready for some thought-provoking and practical dog owner content:
- The potential harm in romanticizing dog rescue efforts (special thanks to Cari for sparking this discussion)
- Discovering the three lesser-known senses that both humans and canines possess—and how this knowledge transforms your relationship with your furry companion
- Lessons learned from life with two deaf dogs: what I wish someone had told me before adoption
- Plus several other exciting topics!
Before diving into those posts, I’m reaching out with a request—and I promise it won’t cost you a penny.
The Five-Year Journey to Publication
Let me share the backstory. During the early pandemic days, I began writing FOR THE LOVE OF DOG. My writing sessions happened in those precious quiet morning hours before my daughters Violet (then 2) and Astrid (then just 3 months old) woke up.
After two years of consistent effort, the real work began: finding literary representation and securing a publishing deal took another two years. Following contract signing, I spent an additional year navigating edits, cover design, marketing strategies, and all the behind-the-scenes publishing details.
That brings us to today—five years of dedication later—and here’s the exciting news:
FOR THE LOVE OF DOG Launches September 16!

The Reality of Modern Book Publishing
I’m navigating the delicate balance between creating valuable dog-focused content across multiple platforms (this blog, Substack, and Instagram) while simultaneously promoting this book launch.
Here’s something many readers don’t realize: even with traditional publishing support, authors shoulder most marketing responsibilities. Publicity efforts? That’s on the author. Sales strategy? Also the author’s job.
How to Support This Book Launch (100% Free!)
I understand these aren’t easy financial times for many people. While the book is available in both paperback and ebook formats through all major retailers and independent bookstores, I’m focusing on free ways you can help.
If you have a few spare minutes, any of these actions would mean the world to me:
1. Add It to Your Goodreads Shelf
Already using Goodreads? Simply visit the book page and click “Want to Read.” This simple action helps with book visibility and algorithms.
2. Request Your Local Library Purchase a Copy
Library acquisition requests carry significant weight! Here’s everything your library needs (feel free to copy and paste):

Why I’m Actually Asking for Help
Requesting assistance doesn’t come naturally to me (classic eldest daughter energy combined with gifted program conditioning—my daughter insists I have undiagnosed ADHD, but that’s another story).
Initially, I wanted to apologize for even making this request. However, a wise friend recently reminded me that people genuinely enjoy supporting each other. So instead of apologizing, I’m simply saying thank you.

A Heartfelt Thank You to My Readers
Your support over these past 16 years—reading my musings about dogs, dog training, dog adoption, and everything canine-related—has made this milestone possible. I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for this community.
Important: If you complete any of the above actions, please fill out my pre-order form. I want to send you stickers and special goodies as a tangible expression of my appreciation!
Your Support Means Everything
Thank you for being part of this journey. Your dogs are lucky to have such dedicated humans, and I’m lucky to have such dedicated readers.
